I’m a product designer with 13 years of experience, and for ten of them I was the only designer at Mutual. I was the first designer there, starting from essentially nothing. The last five I was full-time, and that’s the stretch where it went from a small app to the #1 LDS dating app, responsible for 40,000+ marriages.

Partway through we decided the same product could serve more people, so we built a second dating app for Christians called Ark, now one of the top Christian dating apps in the App Store. I ran both brands and both design systems off parallel clones of one codebase.

Design systems are the part of the work I keep returning to. I built Mutual’s across three brands and six themes, with semantic tokens and live WCAG contrast checking built in, so accessibility problems show up while you’re designing instead of in an audit months later. One of my systems was featured on Figma’s community homepage and has since passed 300,000 views and 17,000 downloads.

For the past year and a half I’ve gone deep on AI. I use it to build the things I design (apps, websites, internal tools, the kind of work that used to need a team and months of runway), and I’ve been building design systems structured so AI agents can consume them directly and produce on-brand, accessible UI from one source. AI makes the work fast. Thirteen years of design is what keeps it usable.

I studied art with an emphasis on design, and I’ve spent my career in the space where design meets product meets engineering. I’m currently looking for design engineer, design systems, or senior product design work, full-time or fractional, and early-stage startups are very much on the table.
